Suddenly got real...

I had a bit of a moment today and I wanted to share...

We had our first real ultrasound!

We had one at 6 weeks and got to hear the heartbeat. And it was pretty amazing. We both cried and were really excited. And then I guess you're supposed to have another at 8 weeks at your first OB appointment, but it was a crazy day at the office and we had already been there for like 3 hours. (And that's not an exaggeration!) So they said if we wanted, we could just reschedule the ultrasound for another day. So we did, but it was 2 days before Christmas and we didn't end up making it. I guess partly because I assumed we would get another ultrasound at 12 weeks, so I was ok with missing it. Anyway, we didn't get one. ha. She used a little one to hear the heartbeat but even then it was faint and she didn't try very hard. Bummer!!

So this time, we paid a little extra money (Only $35!) and went to another clinic to find out the gender! Unfortunately, we don't know yet. We're waiting till our little gender reveal party that's on Thursday, so we'll all have to wait a little longer. No worries, it will get it's own special post. BUT it was the first time we got to see that there was actually a little baby inside, not just a kind of mysterious little mass that's been making me sick for all this time. haha. It's not that I wasn't excited but getting to see his/her little face and arms and legs was absolutely amazing. She didn't spend a ton of time showing us what everything was. In fact, there wasn't much at all, but we did see the little face and saw her actually move! It was seriously amazing.

So for the rest of the day I've been feelin my normal hungry-but-don't-want-food, and all the other physical stuff that's been normal for the past little while, but then when I would feel my tummy and brace for whatever little thing I was feeling, I was able to picture the actual little baby in me. It suddenly got very real and made it super worth it to be going through all this trouble for this little one. I don't know what it is, but I know it's my baby, and it's really there! I don't have to rely on the picture from my "What to expect" iPhone app anymore.

I know that sounds silly, but it was kind of a big deal for Justin and I. We held hands and cried and it was a really beautiful moment. I'm soooo excited about all of this and seriously can not wait to find out whether or not it's a little Justin or a little Jessie. I still think it's a girl but as long as it's healthy, it doesn't matter even one bit. So many parts of me wants a boy, if anything, just for Justin. He so needs his little basketball player!!! But to see him wrapped around his little daughter's fingers would be something from a story book, so really I'm good either way.

Stay tuned for a post on Friday!! And thanks for reading. :)

  2. I LOVE reading your posts, they make me smile and giggle. Anyways, I can't wait to find out the gender! I think it'll be a girl but as you said, either gender will be AMAZING! I am beyond excited for you two and so happy that this is reality and actually happening. Can't wait until Friday! :)

Next Step

I've been avoiding this post for a while now. In fact, a long time... I've been thinking about it since I wrote the post about our little grey circles that didn't make it. I like writing but the last few weeks have been kinda blah. I also think I've been a little hesitant because I've always wanted these posts to be super happy and chipper but that's not exactly how I feel. After the last post I did get a lot of really nice feedback, one in particular that made me feel extra good. My aunt is an incredible person and I love talking to her. She said to me that no matter how long those grey circles were my babies, they still were and I was allowed to grieve as much as I wanted. I think that kind of gave me permission to really cry and it made me feel a lot better. Thanks Kim. :)

But now we're on to bigger and better things. I can't lie and say that I'm super excited about this transfer. I think I got WAY too excited for the last one/first one and it ma…

All we know is...

The results are in folks...

YES! We're pregnant!!!
There are simply not words to describe how I feel about this statement. One I've been wanting to make for what seems like forever. One I've heard from so many of my friends and family that made me want to cry. One that seemed impossible to make. And one I am finally able to say for myself. I can't even believe it.
We waited 2 LONG weeks to find out whether or not our little frozen circle would become our miracle. And when I say long, I mean long. Especially when I was supposed to start my period on Friday. Last Friday. So usually when you're trying to get pregnant, you wait till the day your period is supposed to start and you wait... If it doesn't come, you run to the store and buy that expensive little stick and awkwardly try to pee on it. (Maybe they aren't really expensive, but it kinda seems that way, right ladies??)
Anyway, then you wait a few minutes and see what it says. I had one left over from the la…

Evening in Excellence - Keepers of His Light

A couple weeks ago we had our Evening in Excellence for the Young Women and it turned out so great! A couple girls decided they wanted to use this event as a Value Project for their personal progress so it was up to them to plan end execute the whole thing. I was a little nervous letting that all out of my control since I'm rather a control freak but I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out.

The girls decided on the theme of "Keepers of His Light" and all the decor was fall themed since we did it in October. Here are some pics!

These were the cute invitations we made. Aren't they awesome! We got the paper at Michael's and use the twine thread to tie a bow. :)

Isn't this great paper??

This is Rachel! She is one of the young women that wanted to help. She and Amber basically did everything!

This is beginning of the leaf lanterns that we made. The final product is further down the page...

Rachel got a little hostile... ;)

This is Amber!! She amaz…
